Hi all - we are going off script this week! Our new release title (the incredible soundtrack to RAW on Death Waltz) will actually be released on Friday at NOON (CST), day and date with its theatrical debut. Additionally, we have two distributed titles and an exclusive digital-only release of a new Pentagram Home Video LP for you (exclusively on Bandcamp), available starting today!
RAW - Original Motion Picture Score 2XLP. Original Score by Jim Williams. Artwork by Candice Tripp. Layout by Jay Shaw. Pressed on 180 Gram Rotted-Flesh vinyl (Green, Brown & Cherry Swirl - Limited to 1,000 copies) & 180 Gram Classic Black vinyl. On sale Friday (3/10) at 12PM (CST). $30. Note: This item is a pre-order. This record will ship in mid-April.
Oh man, I can’t rave enough about this. RAW is without a doubt one of the most audacious debut films I’ve ever seen. It’s visually stunning, unnerving, beautifully violent, and also very funny. It very much reminds me of Cronenberg at his finest with its coming of age body horror tale concerning a vegetarian trainee vet that gets a taste for flesh. Everything about the film is outstanding, and that goes for Jim Williams score.
You may have heard his work in A FIELD IN ENGLAND and SIGHTSEERS, but RAW sees him breakthrough to a wider audience with a score that will easily sit high inside many top ten lists come the end of 2017. Williams mixes mellow acoustic tracks filled with violin and piano that are serene and beautiful with huge baroque organ led tracks that are intense and powerful. From the minute I saw RAW in 2016 I knew we had to release the soundtrack on vinyl. I’d like to thank Focus Features & Back Lot Music for letting us partner with them on this release, and the amazing Candice Tripp for absolutely nailing the artwork. - Spencer Hickman

DEATH WALTZ ORIGINALS
Pentagram Home Video – Library Studies. Artwork by We Buy Your Kids. Digital-only release through Bandcamp. Available now.
Companion piece to the latest full length record released by Death Waltz Originals last month. This release is available exclusively on Bandcamp throughout March ( iTunes & Spotify in April) This LP will not be released on vinyl but there will be a cassette version available directly from the artist. Superb dark library electronica very much in the vein of early Radiophonic Workshop.
Galaxy Force 2 / Thunder Blade - Original Video Game Soundtrack LP. Released by Data Disc. Pressed on 180 Gram Translucent Yellow and 180 Gram Black Vinyl. On Sale Now. $27
For their tenth release in partnership with SEGA of Japan, DATA DISCS is proud to offer two arcade classics – GALAXY FORCE II (1988) and THUNDER BLADE (1987) – together for the first time ever on vinyl. Composed by Koichi Namiki, Katsuhiro Hayashi and Tohru Nakabayashi, both soundtracks adopted an ambitious funk and fusion style, simulating an impressive range of real world instrumentation (think synthesizers, drums, slap bass and cowbells), which for its time and hardware limitations, is nothing short of astonishing. And yes, there’s even a coded slap bass solo.
These two brief, but remarkable soundtracks each accommodate a single side of an LP, but work together seamlessly. GALAXY FORCE II includes a bonus arranged version of its leading track, Beyond the Galaxy, produced by Hiroshi “Hiro” Kawaguchi (composer of OutRun, Space Harrier) and features a full studio band, complete with brass section and a keyboardsolo by Hiro himself. In addition, the THUNDER BLADE side includes three unused tracks.
The audio for both games was sourced from the original arcade machines and carefully mastered for vinyl. Presented as a 180g LP in 425gsm sleeve, accompanied by an OBI strip and lithographic print featuring original GALAXY FORCE II artwork sourced from the SEGA archives in Japan.
